Gun sales in the US go ever upward

Smith & Wesson sales for the year ending in April hit a record of $588 million, a 43% rise on the previous year. Great news for the ecoonomy and for the safety of all who live in America! (for those who don’t do irony, this is meant tongue in cheek).

We can therefore reasonably expect a spike in the rate of gun deaths, accidental or deliberate. They are already equivalent to deaths in a major war. This is apparently o.k with most of the voters, many of whom are Catholics who agitate against abortion, but are unmoved by deaths of children by guns.

Epicurus would probably tell us to seek safety in our Gardens and have as little as possible to do with people who arm themselves to the teeth in the name of “law and order”.
