“In my quest, I found and then became active in Jewish Voice for Peace. I would describe my involvement in JVP as a spiritual journey of thought and action, which empowers me to live according to the principles at the core of my Jewish identity:
What is hateful to you, do not do to others.
Do not oppress the stranger, as you know the experience of the stranger having been strangers yourselves in Egypt
Cruelty is not destiny – that bad things were done to you does not justify doing bad things to others.” (Extract from a message from Jethro Eisenstein, Interim Board Chair, Jewish Voice for Peace).
It is so good to hear this from a Jew. He, and people like him, are very brave. He must be the subject of constant threats and bullying from the extremists. Very much in the tradition of Epicurus.
I support the Jewish Voice for Peace. I have a hunch that Epicurus would do so, were he alive today. Will you?
