For Moslems sympathizing with the Iraqi Caliphate the burning desire is to be part of something bigger (and probably disfunctional). For the Scots it is a desire to be part of something smaller (and also likely to be disfunctional). Both leaps into the dark. Both based upon emotion with rational thought lagging far behind.
