I think Epicurus is talking nonsense here. The trick has to be to keep an interest in the world around you and keep your brain alert and active. It might be difficult to keep up with technology , but it is important to try and at least pretend that you are with it. To look back all the time is too depressing.

How right Robert’s observation. If the mind is perking through old age and your body allows, you want to share in the hurly-burly of life unfolding in front of you.
Memories of the past will always drift through the mind willy-nilly but why run them through your brain in slow-motion? Assuming that you can remember how to turn the computer on, you can enjoy the world at the click of a mouse.
