While more than 12,000 Americans are shot to death each year, far more are wounded by guns. Nearly 53,000 people were treated in emergency rooms for gunshot wounds in 2006, the federal government reported.
Associated Press.
Epicurus would say that guns and ataraxia goeth not together. Still, 53,000 people wounded is a small price to pay for upholding the 18th Century Constitution, is it not? Who cares as long as this delphic and much argued-over clause is respected?
It seems there are 300 million guns of all kinds in the US of A today. Which explains why it is no longer a political issue – – it’s impossible to get rid of them. However, a Christian nation that respects children, animals passers-by and human rights ought to ban the private use of automatic guns of all types. They are unnecessary and unsporting.
Now I will be on the NRA hit list! Long live Epicurus and common sense!
I think is is just cowardice of the Presidential candidates not to mention handguns at all. It’s like Israel. If they so much as utter a single sensible word on either guns or Israel their campaigns are dead in the water. And they call this a nation of free speech! We do need change, but not even Obama is going to do anything about the obscenity of handguns.
