  1. The media do us a great disservice when they take politicians to task for changing their minds. Did not Maggie Thatcher start all this? Was it not she who said “The lady’s not for turning,” and thenceforwrd never changed a policy or apologized for a wrong ones? Whereupon the slightly autistic in the gutter press cheered, and wouldn’t let anyone ever change their minds again.

    Epicureans should be flexible-minded enough to change their minds in the light of new knowledge or new circumstances. Anything less would be perverse
