Rewards and punishments

Epicurus said that there were no rewards and punishments after death because there was no one out there to reward or punish you.  The idea of hell-fire and damnation  are fairy tales designed by control freaks to make you conform, be a good dutiful citizen, refrain from complaining about such minor matters as corruption and establishment law-breaking, and to keep you firmly in your place.  Without threats it was felt that anarchy would ensue.

This all seems so blatantly obvious that I feel almost embarrassed to state it in public!  Of course, you will say!  Or ought to, anyway.
