In Russia 110 people own 35% of the wealth of the country. The median wealth of the average Russian is $871, less than the median wealth of the average Indian, which is $1000. (quoted on PBS Frontline TV program on Vladimir Putin).

Don’t gasp! Can we be far behind?
Studies seem to show that these thieving, repressive regimes seriouslly believe that they are adored by the populace. That’s because the sycophants around them tell them so. Only the young people, arising en masse, can change the way the world is going, And even then (think Egypt) you can’t be sure of success.
Blinded by nationalism, the people of Russia, India, China, Iran and other places are following leaders that are ruining their countries. Einstein was right to call nationalism ‘the measles of mankind.’ Epicurus would be appalled, but I suspect, not surprised. Robert, once again, you’re right: if the West sponsors a revolution, there is no guarantee that it will be replaced with something better. I agreed with the decision to get rid of the tyrant Saddam Hussein, but given a choice between him and ISIS, I would probably pick him. What a terrible state of affairs!
