Congratulations to the Church of England. It has just adopted legislation that will allow the appointment of women bishops next year. Better late than never.

This is just like a badly behaved child, who only after being told uncountable times by his parents, no longer spits at the dinner table, shouts at people or refuses to do anything he’s told. The fact that only now they have accepted women bishops is evident of how immature and backward even relatively liberal religions are.
All the worse when you think that early Christianity was a majority female phenomenon. The message of Jesus, as packaged by Paul, was appealing to women who had the rough end of society’s stick, doing most of the hard work with little say in how the world worked. When the men saw that the Emperor had spotted the benefits to his regime of espousing the new faith, the men took over and have been in control ever since.
