Yes, believe it or not, we are all going to die!
Epicurus told us not to fear death. Life is feeling or sensation; when life ends, there is no feeling. Death itself does not hurt, even if the process can. The important thing is to have a “good” death, that is, die close to those you love and love you; be reconciled to those things you regret and the mistakes you may have made. Leave this world a better place. Be remembered as kind, considerate, fair and generous. Die feeling you have lived to the full, have enjoyed it and have no regrets.
Epicurus believed that man is a bundle of atoms. You have eternal life only in so far as your atoms are recycled forever in a myriad of forms. Your bosons electrons, quarks, your particles and anti-particles on will live on – don’t worry!
Still, one has to admit that the whole shebang is very mysterious. All this trouble and all this evolution — in order to recycle our bosons, electrons, quarks and such? I have to think that Epicurus himself wondered why, don’t you?
