An Epicurean life

I was talking to a London cab driver.  A friend of his and his wife (no children) abandoned London for Andalusia in Southern Spain.  Here they could buy a house at a fraction of the cost of one in South East England, with a swimming pool and a great climate and no mortgage at all. He is better off.  Every other week he flies on a cheap flight to Luton airport, picks up his cab, which is parked outside his mother’s house, and drives for a week.  Then at the end of the week he returns to Andalusia and plays golf for the next seven days. He is 38 years old.

  1. Here is a man taking full advantage of globalization and modern technology to lead what looks like an Epicurean life. He is not chasing money, has enough to live on, doesn’t have to work American-style, and by all accounts is happy. Smart fellow!
