New research has indicated that eating summer fruit all year round can significantly reduce the risk of suffering a heart attack. The study, which followed 93,600 nurses in the US for 18 years, found that eating strawberries and blueberries every other day cut the heart attack risk by a third. The researchers, from the Harvard School of Public Health, speculate that the berries’ high levels of flavonoids combat blocked arteries. (Daily Mail, UK)
