I recently received an invitation from the hospital where I acquired my new left hip.
The invitation starts off: We would like to extend our personal invitation to you to join us on (date) “under the tent” for a patient reunion on the hospital campus. We would love to see you again and hear about your life since your joint replacement surgery.
(Editor: “You have to be kidding!)
You also are encouraged (sic) to bring a guest who may be interested in joint replacement.
“Hey, guys. Haven’t seen you for the best part of a year. Got a great idea. Would you and you wife like to come to a reunion of joint replacement surgery patients?”
Epicureans seek ataraxia, or peace of mind. Almost by definition no Epicurean would want to revisit having his left leg lopped off and re-attached.
By the way, what does “under the tent” mean? Has the building fallen down? Would you have your operation in a marquee?
