Wonderful news! The highly intelligent new British Prime Minister has corralled three of the most vocal and dangerous people safely in her Cabinet and made them responsible for Brexit. Since it is unlikely that the EU will agree to scrapping free movement of people and still allow Britain to trade freely with the EU, prime Minister May has cleverly set them up to fail and to discredit themselves.
It was clear that without doing this May would be out of office within two years. Now she has made an which they couldn’t refuse, and can sack them all whenever she deems them busted flushes.
Thus we will have a hugely amusing time and have a chance of coming out in some sort of rational order.
What is required by the super-rich people who fund the Conservative Party is the ditching of all the regulations imposed on business, regulations that protect us, the consumers and ordinary folk. They have no interest in stopping immigration. On the contrary, they look forward to things like scrapping the minimum wage and .the human rights legislation. Thus the interests of the right wing of the party, which does what it is told, are in direct conflict with the interests of the poor and working class – a mirror image of the United States, where this ideology comes from. The poor Brexiters are due for a disappointment.
I wish I could agree with this. What in my opinion is more likely to happen, is that in order to control immigration, Britain will leave the single market. A British departure from the single market will crash the economy, and is unanimously opposed by economists, banks and investors. If the super rich have as much influence over the Conservatives as you claim, they should use that influence to ensure that we never leave the single market, even if it means that a few xenophobes wouldn’t have their country back. There can be no room for compromise on this issue.
